Q’s 1-11: What we have learned so far

  • One byte= One keystroke = 8bits (bits are 0s or 1s)
  • One K = 1000 bytes = one page of typed text
  • One meg = 1000 K = 1,000,000 bytes = Harry Potter
  • One gig = 1000 meg = 1,000,000,000 bytes = small personal library
  • One terabyte= 1000 gig = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes = huge library
  • Floppy Disk = 1 meg = 1000K = 1,000,000bytes
  • Memory Stick = 500 meg
  • CD ROM = 650 meg
  • DVD = 4-17 gig
  • blog= web-log
  • RAM= Random Access Memory (the computer’s short-term memory… measured in gigs)
